The Liquidlogic Sapphire is part of the 'Trekreation' line of kayaks designed to provide the comfort of a touring boat with the stability of a recreational kayak.
We also own and use the Tuxedo kayak also
from Liquidlogic.
For the summer of 2006 we wanted to go ahead and
get our youngest daughter a kayak and get her started paddling. Chloe was only
6 years old, but she has paddled a sit-on-top kayak by herself on flat water
and rode with her mother on a sit-on-top kayak in some mild class II on little
river. She loves it!
The primary use Sapphire for was going to be paddling on local lakes as well
as small rivers that may include some light class II whitewater sections. We

First Trips:
Flat Water: We took our trip in the new
kayak today and we had a great time! Chloe was able to handle the kayak fine

River Paddling: We haven't tested
this boat on the rivers we intend to use it on yet but we will update this
section as soon as we do.
Even though we have only used the kayak once so
far I can recommend the Sapphire kayak without hesitation
for both beginning and intermediate paddlers.
Cons: The only negative thing we have
found with our Sapphire is the fact it doesn't have a drain plug. As you can
imagine that creates a little extra headache when trying to get water out.
