We ate at No Way Jose's in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in March, 2012. No Way Jose's
is a Mexican restaurant located on the main road in Gatlinburg, 555 Parkway,
directly in front of Ripley's Aquarium. According to their web site, they have a
second location just down the road in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The atmosphere in
general was
lower end chain restaurant but seemed clean.
Even though it was about 6:00 on a Saturday night, March is a slower time of the
year for Gatlinburg, so, Jose's wasn't packed, but they were busy. We were
seated right away, and both the hostess and waitress were nice and helpful.
Most of the food was really disappointing. After being seated we were served
the traditional nacho chips and salsa. The salsa was different and tasty and the
only food I actually liked. Our entrees were delivered to our table lighting
fast. No more than 5 minutes after being ordered. However, the plate was piping
hot, and the hottest food was barley luke warm. Little doubt it was heated in a
microwave.
I ordered a taco & enchilada combo ($7.95). In addition to the obvious taco
and enchilada, it was served with Mexican rice, refried beans and sweet corn
masa. The taco was medium sized, and the shell itself was good. However, the
shell was only half filled with actual taco goodies. It was edible, but nothing
special. The enchilada was inedible. It was cold, flat and had a horrible
flavor. One bite of the enchilada was all I ate and I am not sure how I choked
that down. The beans were cold. I could only eat one bite, the flavor was
mediocre at best. The rice was over cooked and bland. The corn masa was like
everything else, it was bland, cold and inedible.
